In Islam, woman has a high status which no past nation ever achieved. For instance in Christianity the women were regarded as someone who did not even have a soul. Islam does justice to both men and women.

 Allah says:

"Whoever works righteousness - whether male or female - while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)" [al-Nahl 16:97]

And whoever does righteous good deeds, male or female, and is a (true) believer [in the Oneness of Allaah (Muslim)], such will enter Paradise and not the least injustice, even to the size of a Naqeera (speck on the back of a date stone), will be done to them”

[al-Nisa’ 4:124]

The above verses thus shows that paradise is  for both   men nor and women. Its also shows that Paradise is not for any man or any women but it is for a women  and men  who is are true Muslims and are righteous.

In Islam there is no competition between the two sexes unlike the uncivilized nations who are infested with women trying to compete with men and loosing their femininity and themselves in the competition.

However, in the Islamic way of life , the civilized way of life, men and women are both helpers of each other. As we can see from the following verse in which Allah, Lord of the worlds, says:-

“The believers, men and women, are Awliya’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another”

[al-Tawbah 9:71]

I'm a Young Muslim

I'm a young Muslim who's full of respect,
and I try to spend time to reflect
on my lord who created me
and allowed me to be absolutely free.
In Ramadhan I keep my fasts,
and look back on my sins of the past,
and recite the Quran every night,
to keep shaitan out of sight.

I try to dress properly
with my hijab and jilbaab full of modesty,

I try to give money to the poor
which will help through heavens door.

I pray to Almighty Allah everyday,
to guide the Muslim Ummah and not lead them astray.

What do you see when you look at me,

What do you see when you look at me,
Do you see someone limited, or someone free,

All some people can do is just look and stare,
Simply because they cant see my hair,
Others think I am controlled and uneducated,
They are so thankful that they are not me,
Because they would like to remain ‘free’,
Well free isn’t exactly the word I would’ve used,
Describing women who are cheated on and abused,
They think that I do not have opinions or voice,
They think that being hooded isn’t my choice,
They think that the hood makes me look caged,
That my husband or dad is totally outraged,
All they can do is look at me in fear,
And in my eye there is a tear,
Not because I have been stared at or made fun of,
But because people are ignoring the One up above,
On the Day of Judgment they will be the fools,
Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules,

Maybe the guys won’t think I am a cutie,
But at least I am filled with more inner beauty,
See I have declined from being a guy’s toy,
Because I won’t let my self be controlled by a boy,
Real men are able to appreciate my mind,
And aren’t busy looking at my behind,

Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause,
The role that we play definitely deserves applause,
I will be recognized because I am smart and bright,
And because some people are inspired by my sight,
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility,
In the back of their mind they wish they were me,

We have the strength to do what we think is right,
Even if it means putting up a life long fight,
You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt,
We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt,
So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated,
We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated,
We are the ones that are free and pure,
We’re free of STD ’s that have no cure,

So when people ask you how you feel about the hood,
Just sum it up by saying ‘baby its all good’.

HOW YOU CAN HELP SPREAD ISLAM

1 Your Islamic dress in itself is dawah to many Non-Muslims

If its a women looking at you explain to them that you wear this dress because Allah told you to wear it and explain who Allah is. If you are not confident to do this then you can keep some leaflets handy and give them that leaflet.

2 You can post this link o  over the net or just make some slips and give it out to Non-Muslim in your class , at work etc.

3. Helping Muslim Sisters

There is unfortunately  not much help out there for Muslimahs  especially those who are not practicing Islam. Road to Islam and Muslim Unity

The link between Muslims of different tribes, nations, colors, languages is Islam. Therefore unity is not achieved by compromising Islam but by every one sticking to Islam. The Islam as taught to the Sahabah by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

When people start to compromise Islam. Then this strong link of Brother hood and unity starts to become compromised and becomes weaker and weaker as one compromises more and more. Then racism, nationalism and hate begins And our enemies triumph over us because of our disobedience.

Therefore a Muslim is one who says

"We Hear and Obey"

He or she does not pick and choose which parts of Islam to believe in or which parts of Islam to follow. HE/She believes in all and tries to follow all parts of Islam.

Therefore we should

  • 1. First Know what are the conditions of Shahadah (kalima) and what invalidates the Shahadah Unfortunately many Muslims do not know what the conditions of shahadah are and what invalidates the shahadah.

  • 2. Have proper understanding of Tawheed. Correct understanding of Tawheed and Aqeeda can help a person from being mislead by deviate people and thus help prevent him from going outside the fold of Islam.
  • 3. Know what shirk is and its different forms so we can avoid it. Shirk is the ultimate sin and only sin that Allah will not forgive. It is easy to fall into to. Unfortunately many Muslims are committing shirk without even knowing it.

  • 4. Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara' The legal meaning of Al-Wala' (love, support, help, follow, etc.) is to totally agree with the sayings, deeds and beliefs which please Allah and the persons whom He likes. Al-Bara' (despise, desert, keep innocent of, etc.) is the complete opposite of Al-Wala' and it is to disagree with everything that Allah hates and condemns.

Al-Barra' bin A'aazeb (r.a.a.) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The strongest bond of Iman is the love for Allah's sake and the hatred for Allah's sake" (Reported by Imam Ahmad).

Ibn Abbas reports that the Prophet said, "The strongest bond of faith is loyalty for the sake of Allah and opposition for His sake, love for the sake of Allah and enmity for His sake." (3)

  • 5. What is Sunnah and Bida'h

  •  Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said, "I have left behind me two things: as long as you cling to them you will never go astray. They are the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah (life example)." [al-Haakim] And he also said, "...and you will live to see great differing, so cling to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifas after me, even if it be with your molar teeth..." [Bukhaaree]

  • Rasulallaah sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said, "I warn you of the newly invented-matters (in the religion), and every newly-invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in Hellfire."  [an-Nisaa'ee]
